Think Ahead

School-Based Family Support —
Currently in Mesa Public Schools, Think Ahead provides support for families of K-12 students living with brain injuries.

Unmasking Brain Injury

The objective of this project is to have each person living with any type of brain injury, whether it is a brain aneurism, brain bleed, brain tumor, concussion, stroke, or a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), create a mask that depicts the hidden feelings behind their brain injury in an effort to raise awareness in our communities and give survivors a voice!

SUPPORT GROUPS

Listen | Talk | Learn

Our support groups provide survivors of brain injuries and their family members emotional support for improved lives. You will be able to share concerns and information with others who understand your perspective. Lessen your fears through group discussion and education.

Brain Injury Alliance Support Groups

  • Encourage active, involved listening for everyone
  • Give the sense that others care and that you are being heard
  • Enable you to meet and accept your needs
  • Allow the opportunity to be really understood
  • Make aware of your needs and strengths
  • Provide a place to find courage and take risks
  • Create an atmosphere to get in touch with yourself
  • Accept that you will express positive and negative views and not be judged or labeled

Find a virtual support group near you —

During the pandemic, for health and safety reasons, BIAAZ has chosen to suspend in-person gatherings for support groups through December 2020. We hope to start back up in January with meetings across the state.

Until then, we have the following groups available online —

You can sign up to be notified when meetings will be back in-person at a location near you by clicking here.
