This month’s topic is Harm Reduction — range of policies and practices designed to lessen the negative social and/or physical consequences associated with various human behaviors, such as drug use.
We will be joined by the Sonoran Prevention Works Interim Program Manager, Christopher Thomas, who will teach us about special risks that people who use drugs face, harm reduction practices to lessen those risks, and how SPW is working to support this vulnerable population.
Sonoran Prevention Works is an advocate for people in Arizona affected by drug use. They provide community workshops, trainings, referrals, consultation, and risk reduction materials to individuals, families, and organizations in order to prevent HIV, Hepatitis C, overdose, and the perpetuation of stigma.
If you are unable to attend this event, we also have a similar presentation scheduled as part of our Statewide Polysubstance Misuse and Cognitive Impairment Workgroup on July 28, when Christopher will be joined by SPW Board Chair Danielle Russell.
