Information and Support Services

In collaboration with the Arizona Governor's Council of Spinal and Head
Injuries, we provide support services designed to address the information,
referral and social-emotional support needs of four target populations in
Arizona:

1. survivors of traumatic brain injuries living in nursing or group
homes;

2. survivors of traumatic brain injuries living independently or with
families/caregivers;

3. families of traumatic brain injury survivors; and

4. professionals serving brain injury survivors.

Accurate information from one of our supportive and caring staff members is
easily accessible to anyone in Arizona affected by a brain injury and in
need of assistance. We are providing as much knowledge as possible for
individuals and families beginning to make life-altering decisions and
choices. In the frightening and confusing times following a brain injury,
the BIAAZ extends a supportive hand by offering:

· a toll-free telephone and email Family Info-line, providing
assistance and education to individuals with traumatic brain injury and
their family members; [1]

· our informative and educational website (www.biaaz.org) provides
easily accessible information online;[2]

· a library collection and media center with English and Spanish
materials at the BIAAZ office for use by community members;

· information and contact numbers to find a near-by support group
from within a state-wide support-network; and

· a quarterly newsletter.

In addition, we are developing a statewide computer database system with
information and research support for our consumer groups and the general
community.

[1] Last year, 850 calls and emails (during first quarter of this year, 312
calls and emails) were answered by our information and referral manager offering
appropriate information and crucial resources to those in need.
